Are you up for a bit of an adventure? Can you swim 50m unaided? If so get your paddles out and grab your banjo.
This is a paid for event, run by external providers. The event cost is £38 per person payable on the day, payable in cash.
This is a guided 14.5 mile trip along the River Severn downstream from Bridgnorth to Bewdley in Canadian canoes; with the return back to Bridgnorth by steam train on the Severn Valley Railway.
We start below the imposing town of Bridgnorth which is perched on the hill above the river. We make our way down the River Severn through the Shropshire countryside, stopping along the way for lunch by the river and to stretch our legs ending our journey in the riverside town of Bewdley. From there we will head back to Bridgnorth on the Severn Valley Railway.
Along the route we will be paddling along the (often) tranquil River Severn, with the occassional obstacle along our route being bridges, some gentle rapids and the odd herd of cows having a paddle. We may spot some wildlife en route such as otters, mink, buzzards, red kites, coots amongst others; and if we are quiet and sharp-eyed we may even spot a kingfisher. There should be few interuptions; if you hear duelling banjos just paddle a bit faster.
This is the accompanying event for the Big Mose Bunkhouse weekend, if you are looking to stay over then visit http://outdoorlads.com/event/oh-be-shropshire-lad-messing-about-river
