Bodacious Buxton to Whaley Bridge Bimble

This scintillatingly spectacular walk is also muddy-dog-friendly and won't fail to reward you with great views of the colourful Goyt valley scenery, come rain or shine. My pictures were all taken on a decidedly dull and misty day for example, but they are still variegated and stunning. Add a little sunshine (or snow) and there will be even more sweeping treats to feast your retina iPhone screens on.
The walk is linear and so we will be catching a train from Whaley Bridge back to Buxton at the end of the walk which is a 20 minute journey and the ticket price is £5.40.
Generally this walk is easy going and mostly downhill, but there are a few grassy hills too over the moors to get your heart pumping. (450m of height gain). Walking boots will be needed as the ground is definitely wet in places, with some shallow muddy and boggy moorland bits to squelch your way through. We will be pausing for photos and a picnic, so bring a camera and packed lunch and perhaps something dry to sit on, like a foam mat or a carrier bag. Wear gators if you have them, but they are not essential.
We will choose a pub on our return to Buxton to enjoy a jar or two before you head home. Why not stay in the area and check out my other “Yummy Yomp in Gorgeous Goyt Valley” walk on Sunday?
